⇐Week 5 Highlights

 Giants 9 – Yankees 8

The Giants came out and dominated Thursday evening, scoring runs in each of the first four innings.  The Yankees put up three runs in the top of the fourth and made a valiant effort to tie the game in the sixth, scoring 5 consecutive runs before the last out of the game. The Giants lead was just too much.  Giants’ pitcher Lance Mercer kept the Yankees’ offense in check with a great defense behind him.
David Wells and Jakob Ertzbischoff shared duties on the mound for the Yankees, combining for 7 strikeouts. First baseman Hunter Abdellaoui made an unassisted double play by grabbing a line drive and tagging out the runner off base at first.  Nathan Gunter made a couple of great plays, robbing singles away from the Giants at his second base position.
Alec Abdellaoui hit a 3-run Homerun in the Yankees’ 6th inning rally. Connor Elsey and David W. both singled and doubled, and combined for 3 RBI.  Jakob singled in a run during the 6th inning.

Tigers 17 – Cardinals 6

Jamar Horride led the way going 3 for 3 with a double, Home Run and 6 RBI. Seku Slade also went 3 for 3 with a Home Run & 3 RBI. Joe Randazzo went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, Melik Miner went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI and Nolan Pietsch had 2 hits. Anthony Topciu and Ameer Smith each a hits. Lou and Nolan took the mound today for the Tigers both doing real well. Some stellar defense by Joe Randazzo tonight making a diving catch in left and backing up a throw to first on a strikeout to still get the runner. Lukas Pietsch made a diving catch in right and caught another long fly ball. Jamar Horride made his plays as did Nolan at short. What a great game tonight all around for the Tigers. Gabe Kirck and Andre Hutchins each hit mammoth 2 run Home Runs for the Cardinals.

Cardinals 15 – Giants 10

Lot of Home Runs tonight. Lance MErcer hit his 1st Major League Homer, Zander Morrison blasted 2 home runs,  Zach Melendez belted one out, but the big blast came from Andre Hutchins who hit a Grand Slam.

Yankees 6 – Tigers 0

The Yankees came were hungry for another win on Monday night.  And they didn’t disappoint.  Two Yankees went yard with 2-run Homerun blasts to right centerfield: Stephan Little in the first inning and Connor Elsey in the 6th!  The Yankees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Stephan hit his Homerun in the top of the first.  Then they added another run in the fourth with Ed Olejniczak’s sac fly to center.  Nick Monteleone knocked in the fourth run on a fielder’s choice in the fifth. Then came Connor’s 2-run blast that added a couple insurance runs. Stephan finished 2 for 3 (HR, double), 2 RBI, 1 Run scored.  Connor was 1 for 3 (HR), 2RBI, 1 Run.  Mikal Dunlap hit 2 dart singles and scored a run.  David Wells added a single.  And Nathan Gunter reached base twice, scoring both times. The key for the Yankees’ victory was pitching and defense.  Stephan took to the mound as the Yankees’ starter and delivered as usual.  He went four solid inning, striking out 8 batters, allowing 3 Tigers’ singles, and walking three.  Nick Finished the last 2 innings giving up a single and double, striking out three.  The defense behind the Yankees’ hurlers was phenomenal too.  Mikal made 2 plays in centerfield on threatening Tigers’ hits.  And the middle infielders were busy throughout the game preventing Tigers from reaching base. The Tigers held strong throughout the game. Some great pitching from Seku Slade and some great defense by Jamar Horride in Center, Jayla Sudduth in Left, Joe Randazzo at second and Melik Miner at all 3 positions he played tonight. At the plate the Tigers could only muster up 5 hits tonight by Joe Randazzo, Nolan Pietsch(Double), Lou Randazzo and  Melik Miner. We have faced all their aces this year and are getting ready for the playoffs without exposing any of the 3 Main Tiger pitchers. The team stated tonight that they will be ready come playoff time!

Cardinals 6 – Yankees 5

The Yankees pitching was impressive Saturday morning.  Alec Abdellaoui started the game and went 3+ innings, strikingout 5 Cardinals’ batters. Jakob Ertzbischoff came in for relief, recording 4 K’s. Some Yankees’ miscues on defense and agressive baserunning by the Cards allowed the game to switch.  The Yankees came out and scored 4 runs in the first inning, and the Cardinals held tight after that.  They pushed 5 runs across in the 4th inning and added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. And the Yankees could only muster a single run in the 6th.  Give credit to the Cardinals pitching against the Yankees’ line-up.  They allowed only 3 Yankees’ hits and had a tough defense to back them.  Nathan Gunter finished with 2 RBI, 1 run scored.  Stephan Little doubled and scored in the first.  David Wells and Ed Olejniczak each added a single and RBI.

Tigers 14 – Giants 1

Nolan Pietsch took the mound today for the Tigers today going 4 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 6, Courtney Wilson came in the 5th for a 1-2-3 inning striking out the last 2 Giants. Some stellar defense put in by Anthony Topciu, Seku Slade, Joe Randazzo and Melik Miner today to back up Nolan. Melik also went 2 for 2 at the plate with a Home Run and a double. Joe Randazzo continues to do what a lead off hitter is suppose to do, get on base! He did so by walking twice and singling scoring all 3 times. Nolan helped his cause by reaching base all 3 times, with 2 singles and scoring all 3 times. Seku Slade doubled and singled driving in 3 and Jamar Horride went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles scoring all 3 times driving in 3. Courtney Wilson and Lukas Pietsch each added singles to the Tiger hitting attack today.
